ABOUT BERTY LEAMON
Kwe hey everyone! My name is Robert Leamon, pronouns he/they/she - I’m a Two-Spirit Mi’kmaq Land Protector of the Qalipu First Nation. I grew up on the west coast of Ktaqamkuk (island of Newfoundland), the sovereign, unceded territory of the Beothuk and Mi’kmaq peoples. For more than 13 years, I’ve been involved in social justice movements and passionate about the right to an education for all. I have working knowledge in our provincial legislature and non-profit sector, and continue my community activism with local grassroots organizations such as the Anti-Racism Coalition NL, Indigenous Activist Collective, and Social Justice Cooperative. Having been involved with CFSFCEE at Local 36, Local 35, and provincial and national executives, I’m excited to be joining you all as the Newfoundland and Labrador Organizer and working with you to achieve our ultimate goal: free, fully funded, education for all.
