ABOUT BERRY D. SPEARS

Over the course of my career, I have had the good fortune of being able to develop a unique skill set and my practice, although Austin-centered, has grown to be national in scope. My experience is both deep and broad, and through the years, I have generally seen all sides of a financial meltdown. I have represented the interests of debtors, creditors (both secured and unsecured), lenders, official and ad hoc committees, equity interests, boards of directors, management, prospective asset buyers and a myriad of other parties-in-interest in bankruptcy cases and litigation both in Texas and throughout the country. Moreover, I have a proven track record of bringing together parties with disparate interests in a constructive manner to craft pragmatic, creative and workable solutions to difficult problems. I have had significant and hands-on involvement in all aspects of bankruptcy cases, bankruptcy litigation, adversary proceedings and out-of-court restructurings in numerous industries and commercial sectors, including by way of illustration, energy, oil and gas, public utilities, technology, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, real estate, retail, food services, manufacturing, government contracts and defense. I have been involved in cross-border cases, addressed municipal bankruptcy issues and have represented administrative and collateral agents in nationally syndicated credits in some of this country\'s largest and most significant cases.AREAS OF CONCENTRATION- Bankruptcy and Insolvency - Chapter 11 - Bankruptcy Litigation - Cross-Border Issues - Municipal Bankruptcy - Public UtilitiesAdmitted to practice in all Texas Courts, United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and United States Supreme Court
