ABOUT BERNHARD HÄFNER
I am a software engineer and technical leader specializing in connected-vehicle systems (V2X, telematics, navigation/ADAS) and large-scale automotive system integration. Over the past decade, I have worked across algorithm development, distributed system design, backend/onboard interface definition, and cross-functional delivery at the intersection of software, hardware, and vehicle platforms.At BMW, I lead V2X system integration for next-generation vehicles and drive the creation of a new telematics fault-analysis function, shaping architecture, interfaces, diagnostic tooling, and automated triage workflows used across vehicle programs. My academic background includes a PhD in Computer Engineering focused on cooperative automated driving, algorithms, and communication protocols.I’m particularly interested in how communication, sensing, and intelligent systems can jointly improve safety, navigation, and real-world driving behavior. I also explore emerging AI technologies and their applications in automotive and software engineering.Outside of work, I help operate a daycare facility as part of a local non-profit organization.
