About H. Bernard Tisdale

I am a chemical engineer by degree, nuclear engineer by trade, and lawyer by profession. After graduating from Clemson and dabbling in the nuclear field for a few years, I went to law school and ultimately joined Ogletree in 1995. While I have a varied experience in litigation, I have focused on employment law for over 25 years. Seeing an opportunity to better serve my clients and my family, I joined Jackson Lewis, one of the country\'s premier labor and employment firms, in August 2019 and started the firm\'s Charlotte, North Carolina office. It is an opportunity to really step up and strengthen my practice for the next phase of my career. I am very excited about it. My passion lies in helping people and their businesses through difficult employment law related situations; whether it be defending them in litigation or helping them in their day to day employment law compliance, thereby avoiding litigation. A large portion of my practice involves workplace safety and health. With significant employment law experience, including workers’ compensation defense, I can bring a holistic approach to safety and health related issues. I regularly assist clients with their compliance with federal and state safety and health standards, and much of my practice includes advising clients on workplace fatalities, catastrophic accidents, and OSHA inspections. This includes- providing advice in the immediate aftermath of serious workplace accidents - conducting privileged accident investigations - interfacing with OSHA personnel during inspections and with representatives of other interested parties and governmental agencies - resolving OSHA citations and whistleblower complaints - litigating contested OSHA cases with an eye toward preventing future compliance issues. I am experienced in assisting employers with drafting workplace violence policies, and sadly, I have experience in dealing with the aftermath of active shooter violence in the workplace. I have represented clients in many industries including healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and the technology sector. I am admitted to practice in North Carolina and South Carolina.
