About Bernardo Fernandes
As the Head of the Power System Consulting group at Siemens PTI, Mr. Fernandes has managed a wide variety of power system studies. He has evaluated many aspects of power system performance, and recommended solutions to ensure that the power system operation is safe, and is compliant with reliability standards. A recent focus has been the support of new reliability standards, including FERC Order in the US. Mr. Fernandes’ other recent work has included market-based curtailment risk assessment studies, stability and dynamic performance assessments, and power system stabilizer (PSS) tuning studies. Over the years, he has also performed or managed transmission planning studies, generation interconnections of renewable energy and conventional plants, technical/economic evaluations, feasibility analyses, regional optimizations, generator retirement studies, database conversions, and more. His clients have included independent system operators, electric utilities, and independent power producers, in the US and abroad. He has strong project and staff management skills, which he uses to ensure his team completes consulting projects in a high-quality and cost-effective manner.
