ABOUT BERNADETTE A. MELITA
I am a system evaluator with over 15 combined years of experiences in evaluations, strategic planning, framework development and public policy. As a credentialed evaluator, I specialize in social impact measurement and system thinking. I conduct equity audits of complex government programs, processes, and systems, with the purpose of identifying and dismantling colonial roots and historical wrongdoings, as well as working to improve the system so it does not perpetuate Euro-centric colonial ways of thinking. I also collaborate with goverment departments to develop equity-based frameworks, ensuring equity is systematically embedded in government processes and programs. My identity infuses first-voice perspective of equity in that I apply equity through an inseparable inherent perspective that understands internal power and oppression from the lived experience. The approaches I apply to my evaluations are collaborative, decolonizing, intersectionality-based, and rooted in social power and privilege disruptions. I have a strong ground as a qualitative researcher, particularly in grounded theory, interpretative phenomenological analysis, constant comparison method and narrative inquiries. I dedicate my professional career to service for equity and am deeply committed to influencing systemic change for social equity. I look forward to collaborating with you on the journey of creating a more equitable society.
