Responsible for delivery of a £250m sector transformation programme, leading technological and process change across six traditional industries. Successes of the programme include increasing competitiveness, improving sustainability, reducing costs through circular economy, and increasing diversity and leadership to future proof sectors that are vital for the manufacturing and construction industries across the UK. Responsible and accountable for inception, advocacy, development and delivery of the programme. I lead the team delivering the complex portfolio of projects which include partnerships with academic institutions, private investment firms and industry leaders. I advocate the vision for the transformation of the sectors (combined contribution to UK economy of £52b) amongst senior stakeholders in government, industry and academia. Key achievements: • Conceived and championed funding to invest in the Foundation Industries and coordinated industry to support the programme • Developed a multi-agency partnership, led by Glass Futures and St Helen’s Council, to build a £60m pilot facility for sustainable glass manufacture – a self-sustaining open-source facility • Designed and led a £42m investment in innovation projects to transform the environmental credentials of all six sectors • Partnered with six investment houses (combined £24m fund) to support start-up and high growth tech companies • Secured an additional £20m to invest in a network of scale-up facilities across the UK • Through my leadership, co-investment from industry will be double original estimates, the term ‘Foundation Industries’ has been widely adopted and forecasts of two million tonnes of CO2 will have been abated, directly attributable from this programme • Fostered industry leading positions on equality and diversity and created a knowledge sharing network to solve critical supply chain issues
