About Benson Hendrix

My professional journey encapsulates a unique blend of varied roles within the realm of digital media and web development, embodying the phrase \"Jack-of-Most-Trades, Master of Some.\" Currently a web developer and digital media manager in higher education, my career journey has been nothing short of eclectic and enriching. My entry into web development has been a natural progression that marries my love for creativity with my affinity for logical structure. Each project I undertake—be it a complete redesign for regional universities or a new development—reinforces my appreciation for the balance that web creation requires. The meticulous organization required for web project management complements the innovative freedom of web design, allowing me to thrive in a dynamic and ever-evolving field. The breadth of my career has provided me with a strong skill set to convey messages across various media in multiple voices while maintaining a cohesive core message. This ability is part art, science, technology, and passion. From crafting news stories to planning public relations campaigns, each role has refined my communication skills, which are now integral to my work in web development. One of the highlights of my career was during my tenure at the University of New Mexico, where I developed the university\'s award-winning 2008 Election Experts digital campaign. This campaign was a multifaceted effort that featured topical video interviews with a variety of faculty members. These interviews were hosted on YouTube and updated on a dedicated website, promoting UNM\'s faculty experts to media outlets across the United States. The campaign earned recognition, placing second in the 2009 National Press Women Competition and first in the New Mexico Press Women\'s competition.Beyond my hands-on work in web development, I have also contributed to the discourse on digital media, public relations, and crisis communications through speaking engagements at regional and national conferences. My presentations at events such as the Public Relations Society of America\'s Counselors to Higher Education Senior Summit, the U.S. Forest Service Southwestern Region, and the EduWeb Digital Summit have covered a number of these topics.
