About Benjamin Smith

I\'m a current medical student at University of Illinois College of Medicine interested in the intersection of healthcare and engineering since completing my undergraduate and graduate studies in biomechanical engineering at Stanford. I have been heavily involved with research in the medical field, working extensively in both clinical and laboratory research in neurosurgery, allergy-immunology, and pediatric plastic surgery. My clinical experience, both as a medical assistant and as a research coordinator, has highlighted the benefits patients receive from medical devices that are optimized for human biomechanics. These experiences have spurred my interest in pursuing opportunities that allow me to combine my passions for clinical care and engineering to innovate solutions that address medical challenges.
