About Ben Plaisted
When I was 22, just out of college and working to pave my own path, I got lucky buying my first real estate investment property while living in California and flipping it a year later during the real estate boom in the early I was overly optimistic and very naive, but I was hooked. I moved to Washington, D.C. soon thereafter and was intent on starting a career in commercial real estate. Since 2003 I have been representing and advocating for office tenants in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, assisting them with their local, national, and global real estate portfolios. There are many ways to describe what I do but at its core I help organizations make meaningful and transformative changes to their current real estate positions. My work with clients can be anything from restructuring a lease in order to capitalize on millions of dollars of future real estate savings to reinventing the work environment to better an organization’s staff and their constituents. At CBRE, I have the platform to provide my clients with critical services including workplace strategies, workforce analytics, market research, financial analysis, purchase, sale, and build-to-suit transaction management, as well as construction project management. Over the course of my career, I have had the pleasure to serve as the real estate advisor for over four million square feet of transactions representing the core organizations in the Washington, D.C. market such as law firms, non-profits, associations, technology companies and government contractors. I am proud to say that I have been recognized consistently across my career as a top performer and in 2019 I was awarded \"Washington, DC Regional Leasing Transaction of the Year (under SF)\" by the DC Commercial Real Estate Broker Association. Awards and accolades are great to receive but over the past ten years I am most proud of my work in mentoring and advising younger generations of commercial real estate professionals. In an industry where your value is primarily based on production and hard work, I have found commercial real estate to be a great equalizer for younger professionals who may not have had equal opportunities in other industries. My ability to identify and cultivate talent has been recognized by colleagues and industry peers. I derive significant professional satisfaction from mentoring emerging professionals and guiding them toward fulfilling careers in commercial real estate. Email address: b••••••••@cbre.com
