ABOUT BENEDICT NAGLE-ROSE

A software developer comfortable in all areas of the stack, but with a focus on the front-end.React is my preferred library when working on the front-end, I tend to use Vite or Next.js to bootstrap a new project. I prefer to use Tailwindcss for styling although I have used styled-components in the past, as well as css compilers such as SCSS/SASS. I prefer to write in Typescript over Javascript but I am well versed in both. Backend-wise my knowledge is Python based, having used both Django (and Django-Rest-Framework) and Flask to help build out Restful APIs that can be leveraged by the front-end. I also have experience with Node.js and Express.js.I work with animation on a fairly regular basis, mainly using framer-motion but also have worked with GSAP as well.I regularly use Git for source control, pushing to either Github or BitBucket, and I have used a variety of different testing solutions for both front- and back-end code. These include: Mocha, Chai, Sinon, Enzyme and Jest for unit-testing Javascript and unittest and PyTest for unit-testing Python. For functional and integration testing I generally use Selenium although I tend to use Cypress more regularly these days! I am a big fan of automating the development pipeline so try to incorporate a CI/CD solution into projects. Github Actions or Travis for personal projects and I have knowledge of TeamCity as well as BitBucket pipelines.Containerisation is a big passion of mine and so I have spent a lot of time working with Docker and Kubernetes. Indeed, prior to the COVID-19 lockdown, I was working on building an on-site private cloud using k8s and Helm, and I maintain a small dockerised server at home as well. I have used PostgreSQL mainly as a database solution but have also been exposed to MySQL and MongoDB. I am currently learning to use Prisma ORM.An up-to-date resume can be found at this location: https://cv-bnaglerose.netlify.app/
