ABOUT BEN GODDARD
A chartered civil engineer with more than 15 years’ experience working with a number of UK rail, energy, and water & sewerage companies, with the majority of work focused on project and commercial management and previously engineering feasibility studies, project procurement and asset management. Recently completed an MPhil in Energy Technologies at the University of Cambridge whilst on sabbatical from Mott MacDonald, which teaches the fundamental sciences behind the technologies involved in the utilisation, generation and efficiency of energy, achieving an average equivalent to a First Class grade. Undertook a dissertation on incorporating an internal carbon pricing mechanism on behalf of a Fortune 500 company, which included- Analysis of external carbon pricing systems, such as emissions trading schemes and carbon taxation- Benchmarking of the case company’s performance with its known peers in different markets- Qualitative, semi-structured interviews of a range of the case company’s staff within the finance, sustainability and operations fields- Quantitative analysis using the case company’s scope 1 and scope 2 2030 net zero commitments and Monte Carlo analysis of uncertainties of cost estimates of the different greenhouse gas abatement measures being utilised.Key strengths lie in contract management, development of processes, cost and change control, progress monitoring and reporting, to provide greater visibility of progress to programme and budget requirements.As part of the water and environment contracts and procurement team, advised primarily on public-private partnership procurement and NEC contracts. Previously a project leader on a number of small wastewater treatment projects (£0.5-£3 million), having previously acted as the key contact for work in the United States and Kenya and also as the liaison between the client and the civil and mechanical and electrical contractors in Thailand.
