Plan and direct the activities of employees in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the municipal gas system.Analyze and approve projects to extend services to developments and industries, approve projects to expand the system area to serve new customers.Design gas distribution system extensions and modifications to improve system performance.Develop and administer the department budget; approve the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies. Approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary to meet the end result.Review and interpret State and Federal regulations that governs utility operations. Ensure compliance of department activities to pertinent codes, regulations and guidelines.Analyze gas rates and Purchased Gas Adjustment mechanism to ensure the cost’s associated with purchasing and distribution of gas is recovered.Analyze market trends to secure fixed pricing and spot purchasing of natural gas.Interact with customers, outside suppliers, pipeline and utility trading partners to coordinate the daily confirmation of natural gas deliveries.
