About Benjamin Walcott
I cut my teeth on software development while earning my PhD in biology, developing software for protein modeling. During this time, I had to quickly teach myself several programming languages—including Fortran and Python—while simultaneously improving the accuracy of my simulations.This experience gave me the skills I needed to transition into a career as a full-stack developer at Epic. There, I developed patient scheduling software for MyChart, the #1 healthcare app on the Apple App Store. My projects included creating options for patients to safely check in to appointments while maintaining social distancing, improving performance, and increasing accessibility.I am now excited to find new opportunities where I can continue to hone my expertise and create reliable, accessible user experiences!
