ABOUT BENJAMIN LICHTENSTEIN

I like to tell people that I never wanted to work in IT. Supposedly us Germans like to keep business and personal affairs separate - one of the peculiarities of collaboration across time-zones and different cultures. This is just one example of what I find to be the most fascinating aspect of my daily work: Culture.Starting my professional life in a sales position I quickly came to realize that my IT aptitude could help me with tedious stuff. Many colleagues were overwhelmed with the multitude of tools on their desk, and many were inept how to use them to their professional benefit. I ended up listening to their rants in order to understand not only their pain points, but also their business. And eventually consulted them how to integrate technology into their daily work.It was not until my follow-up assignment in Singapore that I began to realize how different things work in other countries. How much the cultural differences not only affect our customers\' behaviour and expectations, but also every day life and collaboration in international teams. From there on I have been using these insights to facilitate collaboration across expert teams around the globe as well as the integration of technology into business.Nowadays I am coaching executives and develop an awesome IT organization of people with the support of great minds and people from all over the world. So yeah - I never wanted to work in IT. Yet here I am, doing it anyway. And the aspect I love most about this is that I\'m able to develop and empower people to do awesome stuff.
