ABOUT BEN DAVIES
As an Engineering Chemistry graduate, I apply practical problem-solving and critical thinking skills to propel change in the golf industry. After post-secondary school, I took on employment in a production engineering role for an auto-manufacturing company. While there, I was exposed to a work-flow new to myself. Realizing large businesses and the auto-industry weren\'t for me, I followed my passion and took on the role of General Manager at the golf course I had grown up at. Since beginning this permanent role at Puslinch Lake Golf Course, I have learned a great deal about people management, Health and Safety regulations, employment regulations, and customer service. Not only have I learned these professional skills, but I have also learned I thrive in an environment in which I am passionate. Whilst this position has it\'s days and can be taxing, not a day goes by where I feel I am \"going to work,\" rather, each day is a chance to spend time around people I enjoy. Additionally, I have realized several new skills and subjects I am interested in; particularly golf technology. In the future, I would like to acquire the skills necessary to develop golf technologies that can assist and increase the productivity of golf course operations and golfer satisfaction. Will I be in management forever? I can\'t say for certain; however, I am happy with where I am and the opportunities ahead to further my career and grow as an employee and student of the industry.
