About Benjamin Tracy
I am passionate about international affairs, languages, and connecting across cultures. My journey has taken me from studying abroad in China and Brazil to living and working in Japan, experiences that taught me to adapt quickly and thrive in new environments.I graduated from Rhodes College with a BA in International Studies and Chinese Studies and have since pursued opportunities that combine my academic interests with hands-on experience. In Brazil and China, I studied at FAAP, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and Sichuan University, and gained international work experience interning at Sidera Consult in São Paulo.After graduation, I spent three years in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, as an Assistant Language Teacher with the Japan Exchange & Teaching Program, while also working as a project coordinator with AEC on U.S. military base construction projects. These roles strengthened my professional skills, deepened my understanding of Japanese culture, and advanced my language proficiency.Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s in National Security & Intelligence at the Texas A&M Bush School in Washington, D.C, focusing on East Asian and Latin American comparative politics, international relations theory, and security strategy. Through a virtual research internship with the Pacific Forum, I analyzed maritime security, defense alliances, and domestic politics in the Indo-Pacific region. I am also working toward passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1.I am driven by the challenge of addressing complex global issues and leveraging my cross-cultural experience, language skills, and research expertise to contribute meaningfully to international security and policy analysis.
