ABOUT BENJAMIN RALPH
I work at the intersection of building safety and property. I’m a Chartered Engineer (dual-registered with the Institution of Fire Engineers and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers) and Director at Hollis, where I sit on the London and South East leadership team and lead our Building Safety and Fire business. My focus is on co-creating integrated, tailored solutions across design, construction, operation, and transaction, using interdisciplinary problem-solving and engineering analysis.I work closely with colleagues across Hollis’ #OneTeam to address building safety throughout the property lifecycle - from acquisition and development to operation, upgrade, and disposal. This joined-up approach enables solutions that are practical, adaptable, and responsive to evolving expectations, including those shaped by the Hackitt Review, the Building Safety Act, the Grenfell Inquiry, and wider market dynamics.I’m particularly committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, especially around disability and neurodiversity. My current research explores natural language processing, complexity science, and systems thinking in the built environment. My technical background includes CFD fire modelling and experimental fire science. At Hollis, we aim to provide clear, practical advice that helps clients navigate building safety and prepare for a safer future - not just achieving compliance, but meaningfully improving resilience.
