With over eight years of experience in counselling innovate companies on intellectual property, privacy, and data governance, Ben helps organizations innovate responsibly while navigating complex legal and regulatory challenges.Ben currently serves as Product Counsel at Safe Software, where he provides legal advice to the development and security teams. In this role, he ensures compliance with data governance, privacy, and AI regulations while supporting innovation and product development across the organization.Ben also has significant expertise in pharmaceutical patent litigation, having represented leading innovative drug manufacturers before the Ontario and Federal Courts. He has also represented industry-leading clients across agriculture, apparel, energy, entertainment, high-tech, and life sciences sectors.Ben completed his law degree at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, where he was an active community member. He served as co-president of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Dalhousie and director for the nationwide student Law Games, while also taking on pro bono projects for Autism Nova Scotia. During his time at Dalhousie, he participated in an exchange program with the National Law School of India University in Bangalore.Prior to law school, Ben completed an Honors Bachelor of Health Sciences while working for Health Canada’s Therapeutic Products Directorate. He also interned at a UK hospital with a focus on thrombolytic therapy.In his spare time Ben enjoys photography, back-country camping, and sailing.
