Outside of my key thesis title, I was fortunate to be involved in an Industrial Training Project with the AMS CDT in collaboration with Rolls Royce PLC. This involved the use of neural network machine learning tools to assess the microstructures of Ti-6-4 components that had experienced rapid heating events over short time periods. The final model produced by our team was capable of identifying the temperature to which a part was heated from its microstructure alone with an accuracy of 90-95%.
