About Benjamin Carnahan

Ben Carnahan is a partner within Dinsmore & Shohl LLP\'s Business and Litigation Services group. He is a litigator in a variety of areas of law, with a large clientele that includes some of the nation’s largest banks, lenders and loan servicers. Ben often serves as external managing counsel overseeing and litigating complex commercial loan and consumer finance defense cases on a nationwide basis. Ben is a trusted advisor to in-house corporate counsel on compliance issues, non-routine litigation strategies & management, and rights, duties & obligations under complex commercial agreements, including investor guidelines, servicing agreements and third-party vendor/service provider contracts. While his primary objective is to help clients avoid reputational, operational, and regulatory risk, litigation is inevitable. When litigation arises, Ben and his team focus on resolving matters in a streamlined, cost-effective manner to defend & defeat claims while mitigating risk to avoid future claims. In addition to the practice of law, Ben coaches youth basketball and football and formally served as a Vice Chairman of a nationwide credit union, which has given him valuable insights into the business side of banking and made him a better lawyer to his clients. He is a regular Super Lawyers honoree, a recognition offered to no more than five percent of lawyers in the state of Ohio, recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® in the area of Financial Services Regulation Law, and is a Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyer. In March 2025, Ben was honored to be included and recognized in Crain’s Cleveland Business as a Notable Trial Attorney and Litigator.
