Lead, manage and be accountable for delivery of the organisations ongoing commercial programme from identification through to the realisation of significant benefits. Provide leadership and positive challenge to services across the organisation in the commissioning of services, making sure that ‘make or buy’ evaluations are undertaken, the status quo is effectively evaluated, and commercial linkages across the organisation are identified and appraised. Provide technical leadership for procurement and lead the implementation of best practice and professional development across the authority. Act as an advocate and internal advisor for contract management best practice across the organisation. Drive strategic discussions and decisions across the organisation on the procurement forward plan, ensuring that opportunities that link with wider corporate priorities are identified and evaluated.
