ABOUT BENGUCAN GUNEN
I am a fourth-year Doctoral Student and PhD Candidate in Community Health & Prevention. I am passionate about health equity, food justice, and social support. As a published researcher, a lifelong student, and a creative critical thinker, I value community building, and cultural appreciation. I specialize in using quantitative and qualitative research methods to examine under-studied issues at the intersection of public health and clinical practice, in innovative solutions to improve healthy food access in vulnerable populations, and in building long-lasting community and institutional partnerships. My research interests include food insecurity, obesity prevention, chronic disease management, urban health, and maternal and child health. I believe that a human-centered approach and interdisciplinary collaboration can help us tackle even the most challenging health issues of our times.
