ABOUT BEN FURTICK
I’m an accomplished Logistics Management professional with over thirteen years of experience spanning across the modal spectrum. My combined skills include both logistical planning and execution as well as staff leadership and management. Having succeeded in managing a facility and team through Hurricane Ida, I am proven in challenging situations to achieve KPIs and provide leadership to teams. I pride myself on combining an eye for detail with an understanding of the bigger picture.Areas of Expertise: Logistics Management Project Leadership Account Strategy Process Improvement Supply Chain Management Operations Management Relationship Management Managing Union Employees Risk Management Team Leadership Negotiations Change ManagementSelect Career Highlights:• I assisted with a mode shifting program to help a Fortune 500 company reduce costs and transit times, improve customer experience, and drastically reduce time spent dealing with partial truckload refusals.• In response to damage/destruction from Hurricane Ida to both ArcBest’s business and employees’ ability to function, I developed a preemptive plan to minimize potential damage which enabled the prompt return to business after the storm, and maintained regular communications with employees (several of whom had been displaced from their homes). I regularly coordinated with senior management and facilities’ managers, prioritizing shipments which enabled better coordination of docks and equipment. Results: minimized cost of repairs, top-line and opportunity costs, achieved employee buy-in; returned to operation faster than competitors to make deliveries in demand for recovery efforts while maintaining profitability.• Provided options for an optimized supply chain to a customer that shipped large and delicate items that reduces transit time while increasing consistency, and decreases damages all without creating a large increase in freight spend. Accomplished by coordinating a team comprised of both customer and ArcBest members to generate a plan that consolidated shipments allowing for integrating more than one mode of transportation, and therefore achieving reduced transit times, increased transit time consistency, and decreasing potential damages by reducing handling frequency. • Selected by senior leadership to participate in Arc-Best Leadership Academy’s 2021 class, an exclusive program designed for developing managers who have been earmarked for career progression into upper management.
