ABOUT BENEDICT HEAVER
I’m CEO/Managing Director of Streets Heaver, where we build software that quietly powers some of the most critical healthcare systems. Today, our software underpins over £1.5 billion in private healthcare revenue every year, supporting organisations such as King Edward VII Hospital, BUPA Cromwell and Alliance Healthcare. I joined the business in long enough ago to have seen the industry (and our tech stack) evolve more than once and have worked across multiple areas of the company along the way. That hands-on experience shaped how I lead today: stay curious, stay practical, and never lose sight of the people behind the technology. In 2010, I took on responsibility for the commercial function and helped steer the business through a period of significant growth. Since then, we’ve scaled from 18 to over 100 people, with consistent annual growth of around 20%. It’s been a rewarding journey, though like most growth stories, not always a straight line. I believe the role of leadership is simple (but not easy): create an environment where people can grow, do meaningful work, and outperform what they thought was possible. A big part of that is backing people, giving them the confidence and space to develop, challenge ideas, and push boundaries. That belief is reflected in the mission I coined at Streets Heaver: to be curious enough to dream the impossible, and brave enough to make it a reality. It’s a mindset that underpins how we innovate, how we support our team, and how we think about the future of healthcare technology. At the same time, I believe in setting a high standard, for ourselves, our work, and the impact we have. One of our core values is to be the s**t: to take pride in what we do, aim high, and deliver work that genuinely stands out. That philosophy also extends to how we grow as a company. In 2023, we became a Certified B Corporation, formalising our commitment to responsible growth, ethical leadership and long-term impact. Or, to borrow from a teaching I often come back to:progress is important, but how you get there matters just as much. If you’re working in healthcare, scaling a business, or just interested in building something meaningful, I’m always happy to connect.
