About Ben Cohen

Ben Cohen is the award-winning Senior Correspondent of The Algemeiner, one of the leading Jewish news outlets in the United States, and Adjunct Professor of Communications at Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY). Originally from the United Kingdom, he moved to the United States in 2004. He holds a BA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of Manchester (1989) and an MSc.(Econ) in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1990). A specialist on Jewish, Middle Eastern, European and international affairs, Ben Cohen\'s articles, op-eds, essays and features have been published by The Wall Street Journal, Tablet, The New York Post, Moment Magazine, Haaretz, Fox News, Real Clear World, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, PJ Media, The Huffington Post, The Congressional Quarterly, The Jerusalem Post, Jewish Ideas Daily, Mosaic and The Forward. He writes a weekly column on international affairs for JNS.org that is syndicated to more than 100 media outlets in the U.S. and internationally. His professional awards include a UK Mercury Radio Award (2004) and the Louis Rapoport Award for Excellence in Commentary from the American Jewish Press Association (2022). He has been on assignment in Russia, Ukraine, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bangladesh, India, Sierra Leone and many other countries. Ben\'s widely-acclaimed book, Some Of My Best Friends: A Journey Through Twenty-First Century Antisemitism (Edition Critic, 2014), is available online in paperback and digital versions. He has contributed chapters to several anthologies, including \"The New War on Israel,\" published by Commentary in 2014, and “Anti-Judaism, Antisemitism and Delegitimizing Israel,” published by the University of Nebraska Press in 2016. His most recent book – The Norman Geras Reader, a co-edited anthology of the writings of the late distinguished political theorist Norman Geras – was published by Manchester University Press in 2017. Ben also has more than a decade of experience working on media strategy and content creation for US Jewish advocacy organizations. From 2005-07, he served as the Anti-Defamation League\'s Director of European Affairs. From 2007-12, he worked for the American Jewish Committee, first as a policy expert on antisemitism and then as associate director of media relations. From 2015-17, he served as the Coalitions Director for The Israel Project and as associate editor of its online magazine, The Tower.
