ABOUT BEN BABINS
I’m an HR professional with a background that spans large corporate environments, startups, and now the non-profit space! I’ve worked across the field from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, performance management, compensation, and policy development. Always with a relentless focus on the people behind the work or the process. At EY, I worked across recruitment, operations, HR systems, onboarding processes, and workforce reporting. I supported internal teams and senior stakeholders through process changes, system rollouts, and handled complex, high-volume operational needs.I later joined Secure Digital Markets, where I led HR and talent acquisition as a one-person department, overseeing the full scope of the people and talent function. I had the opportunity to design strategies and build processes across all areas of HR — and then execute on them. This included everything from workforce planning, organizational development, recruitment, and onboarding, to budgeting, performance management, employee relations, and internal training. I also played a key role in supporting executive leadership, contributing to talent strategy and organizational decisions, while staying closely involved in day-to-day people management and employee development.Alongside my full-time work, I’m also a Career Coach with the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst centre where I help professionals at different stages of their career from new graduates to experiences practitioners navigating career growth or transitions with resume strategy, job search planning, interview prep, promotion/progression planning and long-term career growth.
