About Ben Ammerman
I\'m an experienced trial attorney who has represented publicly traded and closely held companies, and individuals in state and federal court trying numerous cases to verdict. My practice involves employment, business, unfair competition, trade secrets, privacy, and cyberspace disputes. I have successfully resolved disputes prior to litigation, at summary judgment, and at trial. I have extensive experience with claims involving breach of contract, voidable transfers, negligence, nuisance, trespass, civil conspiracy, unfair business practices, conversion, fraud, corporate dissolution, and various real estate disputes. I have defeated third party creditor claims for breach of contract and voidable transfers against investors of a limited partnership based on successor liability and alleged statutory violations via motions for summary adjudication and judgment on the pleadings. I obtained a dismissal with prejudice of the action as to my clients after only taking plaintiff\'s deposition saving them hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal and expert fees and costs.I successfully prosecuted a complex breach of contract action involving internet disparagement of a publicly traded company by sophisticated defendants who utilized online aliases to hide their true identities, resulting not only in a judgment on behalf of my client for damages, injunctive relief, but also full defense of the cross-complaint during weeklong jury trial.I tried a nuisance and interference matter that resulted in a jury verdict and judgment of over $1.25M million for my client, including a full defense of the cross-complaint. Collected judgment in full, which was affirmed on appeal.I am currently a commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve having served in the U.S. Navy for over 25 years (active and reserve duty) as a Surface Warfare Officer and Judge Advocate General, deploying three times, most recently to Afghanistan from May 2013 to March 2014.I graduated with departmental honors with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern California, where I was a President\'s Scholar and Dean\'s List. I received my Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating cum laude, Order of the Coif, recipient of the Owen Stark Herriot Award, and Dean’s List. I also received American Jurisprudence Awards in Evidence, Remedies, and Constitutional Law. I enjoy spending time with my two sons, outdoor activities in the California sun, USC Trojans football, and wine tasting.
