ABOUT BEN WILLIAMS

Encode: AI for Science Fellow with Pillar VC and the Dyson Robotics Lab at Imperial College London 🤖 My Research is focused on how we can integrate language capabilities into digital twins of natural habitats. Think Google Streetview for habitats, with a ChatGPT like interface that allows you to search these spaces. I am starting with the habitat I am most familiar with: coral reefs 🪸I hold a PhD from UCL developing and applying advanced AI to monitor coral reef habitats through their soundscape. I used these approaches to track reef restoration outcomes with longterm partners Mars, who lead the worlds largest reef restoration programme (buildingcoral.com), and to measure the impacts of highly destructive bomb fishing During my PhD I spent time interning with Google DeepMind on the Perch team and Mars. Alongside leveraging my data-science skills, my research has involved oner year of fieldwork across Indonesia, Australia and French Polynesia.
