About Ben Westwood
I am a Chartered Accountant (ACA – qualified in 2008) and have spent the majority of my career working on renewable energy projects. After qualifying with PwC in London I worked for EDF Energy Renewables and SmartestEnergy between 2008 and 2013. Having got married in June 2013, my wife and I took some time out to travel, and spent a year in Asia. Upon returning to the UK in 2014 I joined Ørsted (previously DONG Energy) in their offshore wind business, and was part of the project leadership teams constructing the Walney Extension and Hornsea 1 Offshore Wind Farms between 2014 and 2020. This included relocating to Copenhagen with my family in May 2017, returning to London in June 2020. Since returning to the UK I spent five years working on Orsted’s 3 GW Hornsea 3 project, through late stage development, CfD auctions, FID, and early stage execution. In late 2024 I moved to Orsted’s Northeast Program in the US, which is in construction, as Senior Finance Director. I relocated with my family to Boston in March 2025.
