Providing expert advice and strategic direction in understanding and applying best practice in sustainable technology practices and sustainable service design- Spearheading work looking at digital health service climate change resilience – both making it less vulnerable and quicker to recover. This is a complex multi actor and geographically distributed challenge involving a large amount of interdependency and cascade thinking- Driving forward progress towards organisational and system-wide sustainability goals, ensuring that sustainable practices are embedded into BAU delivery, processes and system-wide levers to support low carbon choices- Leading on the development of environmental sustainability criteria and providing specialist input to make sustainable digital choices to support the net zero agenda- Proactively engage and provide specialist direction to ensure that sustainability is factored into decisions about architecture, platforms, standards, and technology- Ensuring digital is factored in as an enabler across the net zero agenda by building strong working relationships across NHSE/I- Building strong working relationships with digital transformation teams in NHSE/I that are supporting the implementation of digital models of care, to ensure alignment and delivery of shared net zero goals- Establishing methods for the measurement and quantification of the carbon impact of digital technologies, working closely with Analytics Units and NHS Digital- Developing a long term net zero digital strategy by building the evidence base for sustainable service design and supporting alignment with cross-government initiatives- Baselining and identifying priorities for carbon reduction, and ensuring progress is made on early carbon reduction areas, for example Cloud storage, digitising of paper processes, sustainable procurement, and recycling of devices.
