About Ben Siebert
My first company in 1983 was an energy conservation and generation installer, installing my first solar (thermal) system that same year. In 1996 I developed and patented a line of low energy lighting products, which achieved a 60%+ market share and are still sold around the world. That company was acquired in 1998, though I still own the patents. I spent the better part of four years living off-grid, using a wind generator, solar panels, and battery storage, while investigating fuel-cell and other technologies.Founding Planet Solar is simply the best use of the knowledge I\'ve acquired over a career in conservation and energy generation. Few people in the renewable energy field have 25+ years watching the development of the solar industry. This gives me a unique outlook on industry trends and technological advancements. With this expertise, we can insure that Planet Solar offers our friends and customers an insight into the highest quality products, and best values this industry has to offer. In 2011, Planet Solar became the largest Govt. Affordable Housing installer in the US, and we continue to lead this market segment. The Planet Solar Foundation is working on some of the most interesting projects we can find, with an eye for helping NGOs create the best sustainable projects possible. The Planet Solar Foundation has installed solar electrical systems for numerous non-profits, such as the Unity Shoppe, SB Bowl Foundation, Rehabilitation Centers, and for the Clinton Foundation for Haitian Earthquake victims.My latest endeavors, both of which I am very excited, are Solar365, and the Pengiun Group. Together with my partners, these two companies are strategically aligned to change the way we do solar in the US.
