ABOUT BEN SAUER
I have always taken the road less traveled. From leaving high school, getting my GED and moving from Portland, Oregon to southern California at 18 to pursue skateboarding professionally – to becoming a father at 20 years old, starting two successful businesses of my own [that eventually led to a career in marketing] – I am no stranger to how fast life can change and what is possible when you open your eyes to challenging opportunities. My skateboard coaching program called \'Skate Above\' grew from a single client to over 20 clients within the first year. I was able to increase the hourly rate 50% YoY while still growing clientele. The business expanded to the point of either requiring a staff or morphing into something new. By year 3, I decided to evolve the service-based business into a product-based brand called Still Skateboards. This allowed national potential and the ability to build upon the lessons learned from my previous entrepreneurial endeavor through a more creative lens.Within the first month, the brand already had coverage from online magazines, sold in core skate shops throughout the US and maintained a healthy D2C presence. This got the attention of a local creative agency, and I was hired to project manage the Fender client.Within the first year at the agency, I had grown to manage up to 5 accounts and eventually was recruited by Fender to come in-house and take over my superior\'s role upon their departure. Within the first year at the brand, I was promoted from project managing their email designers to managing the brand creative team – overseeing global Tier 1 and Artist Signature campaigns from concept to completion in partnership with some of the world\'s biggest agencies and artists.Aside from the corporate day-to-day, I spend my free time writing, recording and performing music with my band Widows Gold. We perform at clubs all over the greater Los Angeles area. Check out widowsgold.com for upcoming live dates and music.Hit me up – let\'s do some cool shit!
