About Ben Sajdak
Expertise in oral and written communication to general and scientific audiences, and cross-disciplinary project management working spanning engineers to clinicians. Specialized skills in animal care and regulation, hibernation physiology, microscopy, in vivo retinal imaging, pathophysiology, neurobiology, and optical engineering. Transferable skills include independently motivated problem-solving, research, multitasking, project and priority management, and timely communication. Prior to science I worked in construction and was a team leader in retail. During my graduate studies, I created and managed a new research division at the Medical College of Wisconsin to facilitate in vivo ocular disease modeling and treatment in several animal models. In my postdoctoral fellowship I focused on developing my leadership skills while helping launch a new visual systems imaging initiative that unites clinicians, engineers, and biologists to improve the way diseases of the eye are detected and treated. Now I help lead Fauna Bio, in pursuit of applying natural disease resistance solutions found in nature to human health problems.

Many animals have natural adaptations that help them avoid disease states that ail us humans. I help drive the first steps in our drug discovery pipeline by leading species discovery and external partnership efforts. I am also leading a few of our earlier stage pipeline programs, and am the Head of our Oshkosh laboratory.
