ABOUT BEN MATTHEWS
In my role as Technical Discipline Manager for SLR\'s European Geology team, I have the privilege of leading a growing team of talented geologists working in the construction and industrial minerals sector, predominantly in the UK and Ireland.I am a Chartered Geologist with an ever increasing number of years experience (something like 18 at the time of writing) in the industry. From working for the UK\'s largest quarrying and construction materials company to establishing the geological services to the industry with SLR Consulting, I have experience of prospective, active, and end-of-life quarry sites across the country.I will not bore you with the details, but most of my technical work experience covers the identification, quantification, and development of construction and industrial mineral deposits, with all sorts of off-shoots into Mineral Planning & Safeguarding, off-shore sand and gravel, quarry restoration, 3D visualization.You\'d think with all these years, that I have seen it all, but one of the best things about this work is the constant discovery - new sites, new challenges, new solutions. It\'s always a pleasure to meet new clients, reconnect with old ones, and bring on new geologists into the sector.
