ABOUT BEN MACKLIN

DE & S – Vehicle Support Team (VST) – Service Management Function (SMF)- Infrastructure • developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, across multiple geographic locations. • I take decisions and inform current and future high-level decision making relating to vehicle support and maintenance across the whole of Defence through briefings and senior managmenet meetings. • Using LFE to support a continuous development and improvement ethos to constantly review and develop established operations practices, processes and procedures, to maintain compliance with the requirements within the contract and within the contractor’s capability and capacity. • Developing a virtual pack, containing templates for an action-tracker, LFE diary, project schedules and plans, risk logs and assessments, and stakeholder matrices and maps, with the aim of rolling out across the operations function and, potentially out to the rest of the organisation. April 2014 to December 2017 DE & S – Flight Simulator and Synthetic Training (FsAST) – Rotary Wing In-service Support • I project managed the upgrades to the Chinook, Puma and Merlin helicopter simulators by working wth the RAF and contractors to identify and communicate the requirements, budget and time-lines to deliver a training facility that mirrored the actual aircraft as closely as possible. • Managing a multi-functional team, I maintained, under strict configuration control, the detailed project plans for each upgrade and for the platform, which incluced risk, schedule and resource management. • I created an innovative type of Contract Change Proposal (CCP), that consolidated all the minor upgrades to the platform that were not part of the large upgrade programmes, thereby distinguishing and maintaining cost and approval requirements, per platform. • Working with the suppliers, customers, financial and commercial teams, I kept a regular drum-beat of meetings to maintain a clarity of expectation and across the contract.
