ABOUT BEN ELLINOR

As the Assistant Director of the Facilities Management Department at the City of Austin, I oversee the financial, administrative, and operational functions of a department that provides essential services to over 200 City facilities. With a Master of Public Affairs degree and 16 years of experience in nonprofit and local government sectors, I have a passion for public service and a commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and efficiency.My core competencies include budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and reporting, revenue management, contract management, and internal controls. In my previous role as the Interim Finance Director of the Public Works Department, I led a team of 30 and managed a $146M operating budget and an $88M capital project spending across 19 divisions. I also directed the preparation of financial forecasts and the administration of a monthly transportation fee that generated $124M annual revenue. I have strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences, including executive leaders, elected officials, and external stakeholders.
