Oxford Coordinator @Jacari
Jacari is a charity that supports children and young people from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds learning English as an Additional Language (EAL) at schools in Oxford and Bristol. Our volunteers provide 1:1 and small group tuition to support language learning and confidence building. I coordinated our operations in Oxford: I recruited, managed and delivered training for 100+ volunteers in Oxford. I managed +100 volunteers to ensure they provided impactful and rewarding 1:1 tuition. I supported volunteers on a weekly basis through meetings, ongoing training, workshops and resource sharing. I liaised with senior staff and EAL leads at our 13 partner schools in Oxford to ensure that we continued to offer a relevant service. I developed our in-school provision at 9 of our partner schools to provide additional support for pupils in the classroom as well as at home. I organised events throughout the year for our pupils, their families and volunteer tutors to attend. Recent events have included trips to museums, theatre, local parks and the ice rink!
