ABOUT BEN CRICHTON

My new role is Senior Design Engineer at Ooni. My most recent role was as a Product Designer at i4 Product Design. In this role I work across a wide variety of projects within a diverse range of different areas ranging from medical design to consumer focused products.Prior to this my role was Designer - Engineering for Toro Australia. In this role I was working as Engineering Lead on a range of new products with a rapid time to market alongside testing and analysis of products which were being reviewed before being ranged. The role also involved working closely with marketing and other teams and multiple trips overseas to meet with suppliers and supervise the development of my projects. This role utilised Solidworks CAD software as well as Instagantt time planning and project management. I have also previously worked as a Product Feature Designer at Dyson, working with UI and UX teams on digital applications and products. Prior to this I was a Design Engineer at Dyson, specifically working on the electrical looming and cable harness integration. This includes grommet and rubber sealing part design, electric routing in CAD (currently NX6), plastic part design and manufacture, and specification of connections and other electric elements.Prior to this at Dyson I have worked with the lower body team, focused on mechanism using CAD CAM to test functionality and enable me to further develop the design. I have also worked on further projects looking at plastic part design, airflow and fluid dynamics, alongside grommet and rubber part design.External to this, I have an array of skills within design including; iterative design, sketching, prototyping, model making, graphics, visual communication, wood and metal working and conceptual development. I am also literate in Mac and PC software and a range of software packages including Adobe Suite and Solidworks.
