Benjamin Boyd is a Litigation Partner at DLA Piper LLP (US). He has an extensive trial practice in the areas of product liability and commercial litigation. Ben has practiced with the firm (including predecessor Piper & Marbury) since 1987 and has handled hundreds of cases for firm clients.Ben has represented national and international consumer product, pharmaceutical and food product companies in state and federal courts across the nation. He has extensive experience representing corporate clients in a wide variety of contract, employment and ownership disputes in Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland and Florida. Ben became a Florida Bar member in 2007 after 20 years of practice and has extensive experience in Florida state and federal courts. Ben has engaged in extensive pro bono work, including representing an inmate on death row in Virginia and representing federal workers challenging random drug testing laws. He has played a primary role in the formation, launch and management of the District of Columbia Affordable Law Firm (DCALF). DCALF provides affordable, high-quality legal services to residents of the District of Columbia who do not qualify for free legal aid but are unable to pay prevailing legal rates. DCALF is a pioneer in the field of low bono – providing affordable legal services to low income people and businesses.Ben is a former Managing Partner of the Washington D.C. office and was the Firm’s US National Hiring Partner for over a decade when DLA Piper launched as a Global firm. As DLA Piper\'s National Hiring Partner, Ben led a team that recruited and evaluated lateral partners and new associates for all of DLA Piper\'s US offices. He was a leader in DLA Piper’s efforts to hire a diverse and inclusive group of lawyers to meet clients’ needs and expectations across the USA.
