ABOUT BECKY NUNES

Becky Nunes studied film theory at Warwick University, England. Nunes also holds a practice-based MFA,(1st class) and FHEA and is currently a PhD candidate. Becky Nunes is a lens-based artist and educator. Her images have been awarded, published, and exhibited locally and internationally. Nunes works in an expanded documentary framework, using lens-based tools to consider the problematic and complicated nature of land use, resource extraction, and the amplification of marginalised and polyphonic voices. Nunes is the current Chair of the APHE, a founder member of Tangent Collective (Aotearoa), a member of PLACE Collective (U.K), and a creative partner at 35a (U.K). Nunes served as Head of Department: Photo Media at Whitecliffe College in Aotearoa-New Zealand for 10 years, and is now based in Nottingham, U.K. She currently holds the post of Associate Professor in lens-based media at Staffordshire University.
