About Rebecca Becky Hirsch

I am a teaching-focused Biology Instructor at Durham Technical Community College and a Research Coach at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, where I support learners in developing scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and research communication skills through inclusive, student-centered instruction.I bring over four years of experience teaching and mentoring students across formal and informal educational settings. I apply evidence-based teaching practices, such as high-structure course design and inquiry-driven learning, informed by my background in translational biology, to support student confidence and persistence in STEM.I am committed to student success and equity in STEM education. Through inclusive mentorship, strategic academic support, and intentionally designed learning environments, I work to expand access to research experiences, education, and professional development. My experience includes one-on-one advising, workshop facilitation, and program development that foster student self-efficacy and a sense of belonging.I am currently seeking full-time teaching faculty positions in biology or biochemistry, where I can contribute to student-centered, equity-driven learning communities and support diverse learners in achieving their academic and professional goals.
