About Becky Billingsley
Hey there, glad to meet you! As a former features reporter for a daily newspaper I have tackled many subjects, but my favorites are history and food. My first book is \"A Culinary History of Myrtle Beach and The Grand Strand: Fish & Grits, Oyster Roasts and Boiled Peanuts.\" It was published in 2013 by The History Press and so far is the only book that digs into the area\'s food roots as its sole focus. The History Press also published my second book called \"Lost Myrtle Beach,\" which was released in June 2014. I interviewed a lot of natives and did exhaustive research to chronicle residents\' fond memories and record their anguish over many of the places and events that have been lost. It\'s lively with first-person and vintage newspaper accounts of fun at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion, the city\'s battle against the state over allowing betting at a racetrack, turmoil caused by biker rallies and suggestions from city leaders for how to preserve the history that remains. In 2015 The History Press published \"Wicked Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand.\" There were plenty of stories to research!
