About Beck Harlan
Beck Harlan is a video producer, photographer, and writer based in Washington, D.C. She is the art director, video producer, and Instagram manager for NPR Life Kit, NPR\'s service journalism podcast and brand. She is also an adjunct professor in the New Media Photojournalism program at George Washington University\'s Corcoran School of the Arts & Design. Before moving into her role at Life Kit, she worked as a video producer for NPR\'s newsroom, where she pitched, produced, filmed, and edited videos for NPR\'s digital audience. Previously, she was an Associate Photo Editor for National Geographic magazine, where she curated and wrote about photography for the blog Proof. Beck received her BA in Art History from Furman University in 2010 and her Masters in New Media Photojournalism from the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, D.C. in 2013. She has interned with NPR Music, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Conservation Fund. Her work has been recognized by WHNPA, The Webby Awards, Fotoweek DC, PDN, LUCEO Images. Photography clients include the New York Times, The DC Federal City Council, and The Boys and Girls Club.
