I am the Project Coordinator for Leaders Unlocked, a social enterprise dedicated to amplifying the voices of young people and empowering them to drive positive change in their communities. I spearhead a dynamic research initiative for the Cheshire Police Crime Commissioner. My primary responsibility involves orchestrating a comprehensive data-gathering effort, engaging with young people between the ages of 14 and 25 across Cheshire to elicit their perspectives and firsthand experiences regarding local policing and crime.In collaboration with a diverse network of stakeholders including youth justice services, child bereavement organisations, residential homes, alternative education providers, youth groups, and schools countywide, we facilitate meaningful conversations and interactive sessions. These engagements delve into critical priorities of sexual harassment, hate crime, anti-social behaviour, and online safety, with a particular emphasis on identifying and addressing instances of exploitation.By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, I support and empower our 40 members to voice their concerns, aspirations, and recommendations for the project and maintain a positive relationship with them to create a community. My role encompasses coordinating all project activities, from initial outreach and participant recruitment to data collection and analysis. We present our findings from the year at an annual conference held at the Cheshire Police HQ attended by the constabulary and local stakeholders. These results are then formulated into a report which gets published, aiming to inform evidence-based policies and initiatives that resonate with the lived experience of Cheshire\'s youth population, fostering an inclusive society for all.
