ABOUT BEATRICE TIMKEN

As a student in the United States, England, and Mexico, I studied and worked in Spanish and English. Developing excellent communication and written analytical skills during my time with Amend Law LLC, which I honed while writing for the Manchester Mancunian student newspaper. While interning at Programa Casa Refugiados, I worked as an editor and translator in legal meetings, contributing to migrant welfare. Most recently, I completed an internship with Working Capital for Community Needs, an American microfinancing firm supporting women in Latin America as their social media marketing and outreach intern, improving my digital literacy, graphics, and marketing techniques. Completing a training position with the United Nations Volunteer Program, augmented my undergraduate dissertation on racism in the Mexican immigration system, cultivating my data visualization and analytical skills. Building on my research interests in the convergence of local and global geopolitics, with a focus on migration and race, I am delighted to be studying European History, Politics, and Society at Columbia University in New York.
