Lanie\'s Hope\'s mission is to illuminate and humanize the disease of compulsive gambling; serving as an agent for social change to assure treatment is available to all who seek help. The American Psychiatric Association has recognized compulsive gambling as a disease since 1980, yet treatment is sparsely covered by insurance and there is no federal funding for education, awareness or treatment. Gambling is now legal in 48 states. Nationally 3% of the population is impacted with this disease and in Las Vegas, that number is 6%! Pathological gambling destroys lives - of the gambler and their family and loved ones! It is my goal to do for Pathological Gambling what Betty Ford did for Alcoholism. Educate, Illuminate and destigmatizing a disease that results in the highest suicide rate of any addiction.I am a seasoned presenter and am available for speaking engagements to address civic and professional groups.
