About Barb Dill-Varga
I am currently serving as the Superintendent for the Aromas San Juan Unified School District located in beautiful San Benito County, California. Aromas and San Juan Bautista are approximately 40 miles south of San Jose, CA.I proudly served three years as superintendent of Schools for Carmel Unified School District in Carmel, California. CUSD is a 500 square mile district serving 2500 prek-grade 12 students in beautiful Carmel-by-the Sea, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Big Sur, and Cachagua. CUSD is 7 school sites, 400 employees, 52M budget and rating.During my tenure, in 2019, CUSD received DISTINGUISHED awards from CDE for the District, Carmel High and Carmel Middle School. In 2020, the US DEPT of ED awarded the District a Green Ribbon School District Sustainability Award, one of 11 districts nationwide so recognized. US News 2020 Best High Schools recognizes Carmel High as #378 nationwide and #44 in CA, and #1 in Salinas Metro Area. Prior to becoming superintendent, I served in a variety of administrative and teaching roles for three top performing high school districts in the Chicago area: Glenbard District 87, Glenbrook HSD 225, and Maine Township HSD 207. I have 17 years experience as a building and district administrator and a total of 9 years teaching college part time at: Wheaton College, Loyola and Concordia University. I am very interested in Organizational Identity and working with schools and companies on how to sustain their original visions over time and to keep remembering the needs of the individual.I have come to appreciate the partnerships that we must depend on - family, community, school, and church- that together will help our nation\'s youth emerge as the leaders we need them to be.
