In April last year, shortly after the release of ChatGPT, I co-founded The Classroom Company (Then DeAP Learning Labs) alongside my classmates and friends Harry Fazzone and Sanjeev Chauhan. Inspired by the capabilities of AI in educational settings, we aimed to provide free feedback for the writing portions of AP exams—a service uniquely suited to AI technology like ChatGPT.We rapidly developed a minimum viable product using WordPress and reached out to Heimler\'s History, a popular educational resource, for collaboration. Their endorsement was pivotal, helping us attract over individual users before the school year concluded. Since then, we have entered partnerships with a variety of other YouTubers, including Jacob Clifford, Mr. Sinn, Flipping Physics, and more!Over the summer, we expanded our team, strategically hiring from our most active users—students who shared our vision and understood our product deeply. We also undertook a significant overhaul of our digital infrastructure, transitioning our website to React to improve functionality and user experience.Beyond helping found the company, my primary role involved spearheading the AI architecture and engineering efforts. I set up a sophisticated backend system using Weaviate, a vector database that enhanced our capacity for more complex custom data interactions. I managed all aspects of AI integration, from data ingestion to the development of new classes and interaction formats, ensuring our platform not only met but exceeded the educational needs of our users. Through these initiatives, The Classroom Company has continued to grow, evolving into a more robust and impactful educational tool, and we\'ve branched out beyond AP tutoring, to building classroom assistants seen in Duke Classrooms, and college essay tutors!
