About Brittenay C.

I currently serve as the Vice-Chair for the Citizens\' Review Board which reviews appeals by citizens who file complaints on dispositions imposed by the Chief of Police or his designee relating to allegations of misconduct against a sworn police officer.I have served on multiple committees in different leadership capacities such as the City of Charlotte\'s Community Relations Committee, Young Professional at the Levine Museum of the New South, Jamie Kimble Foundation, Metrolina Association for Volunteer Administrators (MAVA), the Young Professionals at International House. I was also a mentor through the Women\'s Inter-Cultural Exchange and Ambassador for Chief Putney\'s Bridging the Difference Initiative. Throughout the past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to work directly with Law Enforcement Agencies and the community to identify, address and provide recommendations to create a framework that develops alternatives to public safety. My work with YWCA, United Way, and NCWorks/Charlotte Works has given me experience in event management, fundraising, grants, community engagement and outreach, volunteer management, and community impact. During my time at NC State, I became a Certified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion trainer through the National Coalition Building Institute. While working at NCWorks/Charlotte Works, I also became a Certified Working Smart Master Trainer, a program to help individuals develop soft skills within the workplace. I also worked with the Center for Community Transitions to teach soft skills to formerly incarcerated individuals.
